Located along Hazel Road in Wembley (HA0), this project represents a comprehensive extension and full-house refurbishment of a detached property. The original home measured approximately 800 sq. ft., and following completion, the space will expand to around 1,500 sq. ft., nearly doubling its size.
From major structural redevelopment to the integration of smart home and spa systems, the project blends modern technology with timeless English architectural charm. Our design and planning application was approved in October, and despite the damp seasonal weather, construction progressed smoothly. Within roughly 10 weeks, the project advanced from foundation works to near completion — staying fully on schedule.
In Wembley, residential extensions are subject to strict planning regulations. As this property is detached, our team successfully secured approval for the maximum allowable extension, optimizing every square foot. The second floor features a Z-shaped setback design that complies with the 45° daylight rule, ensuring no impact on neighboring light conditions while maximizing internal volume and natural illumination.
Construction Highlights
Stage 1 — Residential Extension & Spatial Planning
The newly extended ground floor has been reconfigured into a bright, open-plan living and dining area, designed for both leisure and social gatherings. A dedicated grand piano corner and home bar zone add a refined, European-style touch, blending functionality with elegance.
The master bathroom spans over 2m × 2.5m, incorporating both a walk-in shower and a bathtub — a personal relaxation retreat envisioned by the client. On the first floor, a 200 sq. ft. master suite offers a luxurious private space, featuring a bathtub, washbasin, and separate toilet with well-balanced proportions.
The roof was fully refurbished with new moisture-proof and thermal insulation layers, significantly enhancing energy performance. The distinctive Z-shaped setback creates a recessed upper-level bedroom that comfortably accommodates a double bed and wardrobe, with serene garden views to the rear.
The rear garden has been re-landscaped with lush lawn areas and open sightlines, optimizing natural light throughout the interior. The pitched roof design prevents shadowing on neighboring fences and supports effective airflow. A newly integrated ventilation window system ensures a consistent indoor climate, even during warmer months.
Stage 2 — Smart Bathroom & Home Spa System
The second construction phase focused on delivering luxury smart living through advanced bathroom and spa technology. The client envisioned an at-home wellness experience — a space offering the tranquility of a luxury hotel while remaining family-friendly.
At the center is a Jacuzzi-style hydro-massage bathtub, equipped with multi-jet water and air systems, adjustable temperature and flow controls, and low-noise pumps. Designed with accessibility in mind, it includes an easy-entry structure and concealed maintenance hatch, catering to both comfort and practicality.
The smart toilet system features a wall-mounted design with automatic flushing, heated seating, deodorizing, and self-cleaning functions. Fully connected to the home’s central control network, it supports energy-saving operation and remote diagnostics for effortless maintenance.
Residents can personalize their environment through a centralized touch panel or mobile app, adjusting water temperature, lighting, jet intensity, and music. Preset modes — Relax, Morning, and Night Mode — offer one-touch ambiance control tailored to different routines.
The lighting scheme combines LED mirror cabinets and recessed moisture-proof strips with adjustable color temperatures and integrated Bluetooth audio. Structurally, the bathroom incorporates waterproof levelling, anti-condensation wall panels, and underfloor heating, ensuring warmth, comfort, and long-term durability.
Additionally, modular equipment installation and removable maintenance panels streamline servicing and future upgrades, reducing long-term maintenance costs. The entire home benefits from a water-circulation underfloor heating system across both levels, complemented by triple-glazed windows, reinforced insulation, and high-end finishes such as large-format tiles and herringbone wooden flooring with concealed pipework — achieving both visual and functional perfection.
